Shows with Posters Featuring a Woman in a Bathroom at Edinburgh Fringe 2024

Anti-Heroine

As a man, I unfortunately do not understand the magic of a woman's bathroom, but these shows are meant to introduce me to wonder! From the description: "Anti-Heroine, starring Lottie Burgess, is a love letter to female friendship and bathroom stalls. Over a few nights, a spunky but directionless young woman navigates the perils of online dating, her fractured relationship with her mother and trying to have some self-respect with no income. At least she's not in love with… oh, wait." Aug 2-10 Greenside @ George Street - Olive Studio 19:30 - 20:30

Caitlin Cook: The Writing on the Stall

Public: The Musical, taking place in a public gender-neutral bathroom, was one of my top shows last year, so I am excited to see another public bathroom musical at Edinburgh Fringe 2024! From the description: "Caitlin Cook's hit bathroom graffiti musical – literally set in a dive bar bathroom – transforms stall scribbles into the lyrics of her original songs and trail markers along her journey in this confessional, immersive and uproarious one-of-a-kind show." Aug 14-25 Pleasance Dome - 10 Dome

21:50 - 22:50

Piss Girls

The women's bathroom lore continues to grow with Piss Girls, a show from Australia, using the bathroom as a time machine in a way that will serve as its own character. Or...I am overthinking it. From the description: "A compelling, humorous and poignant play that explores the intimate and often complex relationship between girls and their shared experiences in the bathroom. Set in different bathrooms across various years, the bathroom serves as a backdrop for the trials and tribulations of adolescence. It's a place where friendships are solidified, secrets are revealed and hearts are broken and mended." Aug 12-17

Greenside @ Riddles Court - Clover Studio 19:40 - 20:25

You’re Needy (Sounds Frustrating)

This experience is already sold out (insane) but each performance is only for one audience member and I imagine the range of emotions will be overwhelming. From the description: "You're Needy (sounds frustrating) is a site-specific piece for one audience member about a woman's retreat from everyday life in pursuit of peace, solitude and "wellness". Carrie's moved into her bathroom. She's living on slim noodles and chopped parsley baths. Every week she's visited by a volunteer hired to help her reintegrate into society. This week, it's your turn. Take an ocean breath and snort a line of rock salt. It's time to peel off those cucumbers and take a long hard look at yourself." Aug 1-11, 13-18, 20-26 Buccleuch Terrace - Meet Outside Tills Bookshop Various Times (Sold Out)
