Shows that Come with Food and/or Drink at Edinburgh Fringe 2024

NOTE: I excluded traditional wine or distillery tours and other drink tastings that still take place outside of Edinburgh Fringe 2024.

Why grab lunch or a drink elsewhere when you can get them right in the show?!

Here are the shows at Edinburgh Fringe 2024:

Thinking Drinkers: The Booze-ical

£15 (Weekdays) £16.50 (Weekends) Includes: Five Alcoholic Drinks (around juice box sized each), and a can of water

poster for The Thinking Drinkers the booz-ical at edinburgh fringe 2024 featuring two guys in tuxes

Possibly the best deal at Fringe! While in line for the show, they give you a paper bag filled with five pre-packaged alcoholic drinks and a can of water. These drinks are a part of the show as they walk you through each profile and throw in some fantastic, comedic history. Really fun time!

From the description: "Following last year's sell-out Edinburgh run, the self-styled hardest-working beefcakes in alcohol-based infotainment are back... with a brand-new musical extravaganza complete with five free drinks for every audience member! Sip back and marvel as the award-winning drinks experts embark on an all-singing, all-dancing musical mission to prove that the pub, and indeed alcohol, are cornerstones of civilisation."

a giant chicken with the word batsu in read in front of it to promote batsu! at edinburgh fringe 2024

Straight from NYC, Batsu! is a Japanese-inspired improv show where performers play in various games, and the losers have to face a Batsu or punishment. These can include a giant rubber band wrapped around your stomach and pulled back, sipping sake out of another performer's belly button, and more! The audience participates in many of them, introducing some ridiculous characters. Truly a fun time!

The Court

£15 Includes: Pie and Drink (no information on flavor or types)

This was an absolute hidden gem for me last year! My partner is a criminologist, so this was right up her alley, and the show was unbelievably immersive. You are put right into a court trial and must decide if the defendant is guilty or innocent. The actors perform the court trial, and then the audience can ask the defendant and plaintiff questions. The actors do an excellent job improvising. This is not a comedy but a hard-hitting courtroom drama where they shed tears and release their emotions!

Aug 2-25 Hill Street Theatre - Dunedin Theatre 11:45 - 12:45

Art of Selling Out

£5 Includes: Cocktail and hat!

Jacki has an exciting business opportunity for you! A great Meta Fringe show from an Emmy winner that's only 30 minutes! It has everything you need, just make sure to bring a friend (for your downline)!

From the description: "Emmy® award winner Jacki Thrapp teaches you how to sell out your Fringe show in an immersive pyramid scheme parody paired with a side of manipulation and capitalism in this once-in-a-lifetime, multi-level marketing opportunity you'll tell your insecure friends about."

Comfort Food Cabaret

Ranges from £17.50 - £23, depending on day of performance Includes: Samples of all the dishes she makes during the performance

I like to imagine Michelle (pictured above) is Anna Lou's sister from Le Wine Club. They wanted to combine their love of singing, dancing, and nourishment but could not decide on wine or full dishes. After countless arguments, they went their separate ways and created their own Fringe shows. Hopefully, one day, they will reconcile! From the description: "Australia’s singing cook Michelle Pearson returns to Edinburgh to present her multi award-winning musical food sensation. Taste each dish cooked before your eyes as the soulful songstress, her Aussie cooks and band serve up an evening of live music, cooking and comedy."

two men in yacht style suits in front of wine barrels holding wine glasses to promote in pour taste: a comedy wine tasting experience at edinburgh fringe 2024

Two Aussie comics take you through wine-tasting like you (probably) haven't before. They've been doing this worldwide and I've heard good things! Although... it might be the wine talking.

From the description: "Comedians Sweeney Preston and Ethan Cavanagh guide you through tasting five wines and at least five jokes. Everyone from savvy sauvignon swiggers to clueless chardonnay chuggers will find something to make their glass half-full, as the wine industry's hardest-hitting questions are answered."

From the description: "Join performance-maker and foodie Sean Wai Keung as he explores fortune cookies as well as his own mixed-race identity. Write your own fortunes as he bakes cookies live while exploring the history of this most enigmatic of after-meal snacks. Liars and Clowns: A Late Night Comedy Show

£12

Includes: Half-time oranges

a poster with two faces that are split in half between a king and a clown to promote liars & clowns a late night comedy show at edinburgh fringe 2024

One type of show the Edinburgh Fringe has no shortage of is compilation comedian shows. Come out where the lineup differs each night, and you might see a star! I will say that the few times I have gone to shows like this have been good times, and they're always good value. Each of the comedians' shows would cost around £10, so seeing a handful for one price is pretty good. Plus, oranges!

From the description: "Returning to Edinburgh for the third year in a row! Liars and Clowns is a jam session for comedians, with a revolving door showcasing the best alternative comedy from around the festival. Previous acts include: Sam Campbell, Flo & Joan, Larry Dean, Leo Reich, Paul Foot, Josh Glanc, Garry Starr, Lou Wall and Stuart Goldsmith."
