Potty the Plant - Review

This show made quite a buzz at Edinburgh Fringe 2023 and is back for this year! The show starts with introducing the adorable Potty and an ensemble cast. From there, it flies off the ScotRails. With a mix of a murder mystery, vampire story, dating etiquette, and being happy, the show has a lot going on, but the character remains light and rather one-dimensional. However, that is part of the beauty of the show. It is so light. So bubblegum joyous and 200 mph that you forget about your life for an hour and get sucked into this ridiculous story. Every cliche from the 80s you can think of are represented, from Gingers to pretending to be a waiter to spy on a friend. There are vibes of Rocky Horror Picture Show and Little Shop of Horrors (I am realizing now both have "horror" in their title) which they obviously were very inspired by. Look, you probably won't be discussing the greater meaning or what it was trying to say about our overall political landscape, but you will remember the catchy tunes and the ridiculous ending. ⭐⭐⭐⭐
