Dramas With Titles That Make You Immediately Know You WILL Greet (Cry) at Edinburgh Fringe 2024

Basically anything you see at Summerhall and Greenside is likely to do this, but some other venues are hosting these. I have a feeling they have a deal with Big Tissue to try to drive up prices. Here are the choices for Edinburgh Fringe 2024:

Conversations We Never Had, As People We'll Never Be

poster for Conversations we never had as people we'll never be at edinburgh fringe 2024 of a girl's face in blue

From the description: "Have you ever wondered what your life would look like without the memory of the person who changed the way you see the world? After buying and consuming a pill online, Gina and Frankie are given thirty minutes to decide whether or not to erase their relationship from their memories, forever."

Oh no, I am already starting to greet (Scots for cry)...What would life be like if you agreed to that? The idea of what if will always plague our lives.

The Sun, the Mountain, and Me

poster for the sun, the mountain, and me featuring the lead actor sitting on the ground in front of a painting canvas at edinburgh fringe 2024

From the description: "Arthur is just trying to finish his painting. It fills his days; it haunts his nights. Nobody understands. Not his girlfriend, not his brother. Everyone keeps telling him to stop. But he can't. Not until it's finished. Whatever the cost..."

Oh no, what if he doesn't finish it... Why does no one understand? Ugh, this is cathartic. The type of stuff you see at Edinburgh Fringe 2024, an hour show about how you can't finish anything.

Aug 1-11, 13-25 Underbelly, Cowgate - Big Belly

17:05 - 18:05

With All My Fondest Love

a poster for with all my fondest love at edinburgh fringe 2024 with a man and a photo of his grandparents and other photos scattered around

From the description: "How well can you know your own family? A grandson discovers the hidden secrets behind his grandparents' ordinary yet curious marriage. Using real-life letters and diaries, Noah Wild struggles to fill in the blanks in his own family history, from burnt letters to unspoken loss. Struggling with his own heartbreak, he follows love through entwined past generations to reflect on how to live in the present." Oh man you think you know people until the truth is revealed and you find out that they're actually human....oh jeez-o. I need to watch a Will Ferrell movie or something to stop this.

Aug 12-17, 19-24

Greenside @ George Street - Mint Studio

15:05 - 16:05

Sandcastles

a man in front of waves of an ocean with a ghost behind them for sandcastles at edinburgh fringe 2024

From the description: "Alex is a confused young man. One moment he feels as though everything is stacked against him, the next he resents those who feel exactly that way. One day he's ordered to start on a new therapy scheme that will hopefully try and sort his issues once and for all. Soon we realise that Alex's issues and the powers that brought him there are more complex than first thought."

Alex sounds complicated, and I and you are also compilcated and oh man, I am so gonna relate to this.

Aug 19-24 Greenside @ George Street - Mint Studio 11:40 - 12:30

Never Get to Heaven in an Empty Shell

a woman laying on an escalator promoting never get to heaven in an empty shell at edinburgh fringe 2024

From the description: "Claud's stuck. Big time. Aimlessly drifting between her job as a ghost tour guide to reluctant family dinners to endless bad dates in even worse pubs, Claud is in limbo. Still finding her feet 10 years after her dad died, an unlikely encounter with a ghost at Angel Station comes with the realisation that she's got work to do." Ghosts? A Christmas Story mixed with a Failure to Launch story. Love it. Going to cry.

Jul 31, Aug 1-12, 14-18, 20-25

Pleasance Courtyard - Bunker Three 12:50 - 13:50

The Chaos That Has Been and Will No Doubt Return

poster for the chaos that has been and will no doubt return a show at edinburgh fringe 2024 with a man with quotes over his face

From the description: "Two best mates. One HUGE party. Luton pinned by austerity. An evening of noughties bangers and shots of shitty gin mixed with the chaos of violence. A night to remember!" So this one isn't very upfront with its cry-ness, but I KNOW it will take a turn. It's a Summerhall show, after all!
