5 Shows That WILL Sell Out At Edinburgh Fringe 2024

(plus blog exclusive BONUS at the bottom) -All Times in BST- Anna Akana: It Gets Darker

comedienne Anna Akana walking across a tight rope

After six years away from her 10-year stand-up career, Akana is back to spill the tea on the stalking incident that took her away from the stage. On the heels of the smash hit Fringe show turned Netflix Drama, Baby Reindeer, there is truly an audience hungry for more of this (unfortunate) topic. Akana is well known in nerd and YouTube junkie circles alike with her signature type of storytelling, pop culture insights, and the truly difficult experiences she has faced. She has had the range in her career many wish to have, from Hollywood films to TV, web-based shows with (potentially) full creative control, multiple albums, best-selling books, and worldwide comedy tours. Also, she is taking this show to London a few days after Fringe, and it is ALREADY sold out! If you're interested, grab tickets now! Jul 31, Aug 1-4, 6-11, 13-18, 20-24 Pleasance Courtyard - Upstairs - 17:30 - 18:30

Dara Ó Briain: My Life Is a Work in Progress (Work in Progress)

comedian Dara O Briain holding his hand to his head.

Not much needs to be said here; it's Dara Ó Briain! For those unfamiliar with UK comedy and television culture, Ó Briain has been a presenter on TV in one way or another for 30 years. After years of touring stand-up and bringing top-notch solo shows to Fringe each year, he began featuring on British panel shows, ultimately hosting the widely popular Mock the Week from 2005 to 2022, making him a household name. in 2005, Ó Briain's eighth show at Fringe was the biggest-selling solo comedy show of the festival. Roughly 20 years later, his status has only grown. This show will likely sell out by early July. You've been warned! Aug 12-25 Assembly Rooms - Music Hall - 18:50 - 19:50

Demi Adejuyigbe Is Going To Do One (1) Backflip

comedian Demi Adejuyigbe standing on a block with a red X on the floor

Adejuyigbe has had a career with a perfect mix of a modern and old-school comedy path to fame. After being a successful Vine star, he leveraged that to work at huge production houses in LA. Eventually, he wrote for incredibly saught after shows such as The Good Place and hosted viral podcasts such as Gilmore Guys. His show is described as "A very special comedy show featuring original comedic songs, presentations, bits, and one (1) single backflip performed by an aging, sedentary man who had to stand up and crack his knees in the middle of writing this. Directed by BriTANick." Those last three words are another indicator that it WILL sell out. YouTube stars and Fringe show sell-outs themselves, BriTANick directing a show from a comedian with already the buzziest of buzzy statuses, are an equation with a simple answer: BUY TICKETS NOW! Foil Arms and Hog: Skittish

comedy trio Foil Arms & Hog standing making funny faces in tuxes

The sketch comedy crew has performed at Fringe since 2009 and for the last two years, their show Hogwash has been performed in and sold out McEwan Hall, Fringe's BIGGEST venue. An incredible feat for a comedy trio. This year, they are back with a fresh show that is sure to attract fans from all over the world to catch the fresh material. Jul 31 Aug 1-25 Underbelly, Bristo Square - McEwan Hall - 21:15 - 22:15

Austentatious: An Improvised Jane Austen Novel

Fresh off their residency at the Arts Theatre in London, Austentatious is ready to return to Fringe. The show, which has performed in Edinburgh each year for over 10 years and sold out every year, is back again. The show runs for only eight nights but is constantly loved and revered yearly. Aug 3-5, 7-11 Underbelly, Bristo Square - McEwan Hall - 13:30 - 14:30

BLOG EXCLUSIVE BONUS Luke Rollason, Luke Rollason, Let Down Your Hair

comedian Luke Rollason holding a unicorn made of toilet paper

Rollason is a Fringe Darling who brings his hair, which is higher than Edinburgh Castle, and wit to the city each year to showcase his style. He starred in Disney+ (UK)/Hulu(US)'s superhero sitcom Extraordinary (which I personally LOVED) along with fellow Fringe performer Máiréad Tyers. They just released their second season. With the mix of mainstream notoriety and a reputation of Fringe excellence, this will surely sell out.
